ÄNDERUNG VON PRINZIP UND PRAXIS BEIM SCHUTZ EINER RUINE. Zsámbék und der Denkmalschutz in Ungarn
Abstract
One of the most important monuments from the 13th century in this country merits special attention from the aspects of both research in history of architecture, and of practical monuments preservation. The history of its last two centuries is that of its ruined subsistence, subject to endeavours typical of Hungarian monuments preservation in successive periods. The first, spontaneous attempts of preservation were induced by the endeavour to keep its function. In the period of purism Prof. István Möller did systematic, deepgoing work of preservation with an exemplary reservation, creating a school of practical monuments preservation in this country. The same reverence and respect characterized works by Prof. Géza Lux from 1935 to 1938, paralleled, of course, by scientific research on the once provostship. Nowadays it has become urgent to renew technical preservation of the ruined area, alongside with the sociaI protection of this significant monument.
