Abstract

Polygon-Outlined Varieties of the Six-Iobe Church Type with CentraI Dome-Canopy in Georgia - Questions of the history of architecture of polygon-outlined six-Iobe churches in Georgian territory - Goguba, Oltisi, Kiagmis-Alti Kahi and Bochorma are considered. Like cross varieties of space composition in Kumurdo and Nikorzminda, these also may be stated to express important historical functions. Varieties of this church type arisen about the turn of the millennium, in the state organization of the Bagrationi kingdom on the way to independence, represent the lords' power such as the sepulchral church of the Baguashi family in Kahi. In the period of organization of the central power, against the church type in Kumurdo and Nikorzminda bearing monarchic ideas, these sepulchral churches were manifestations of the respect of ancestors - such as that of the Baguashi family in Kahi.
