Abstract

In the computer programs for the power system simulations there are different methods for the load simulations. Almost all methods use the S and Z type of the load modelling. For the nonlinear inductive loads there is the exponent type of the Q-U static charac- teristics with constant exponent. After the analysis of the measured characteristics of the synchronous machines and transformers, novel method is suggested to calculate the voltage dependent non-linear Q-U static characteristics. The main steps of the method are: to evaluate the measured characteristics and to produce by mathematical procedures a continuous 8( u) function of the varying not-constant exponent for the Q-U static char- acteristics. The 3( u) function can be expressed by regression of different order and it can be implemented in an advanced network simulation program like the Electro Dynamic Simulation (EDS).
