Abstract

A method for transient analysis of multiconductor transmission line systems is presented. The propagation of the TEM mode which is perturbed into TM mode (because of the finite conductance of the conductors) is assumed. The system of the partial differential equations describing the model is solved analytically in the frequency domain. The spec- trum obtained is transformed into the time domain by using the connection between the continuous- and discrete-time Fourier transform. The inverse Fourier transformation is carried out by using an FFT algorithm. The loads are linear, active n-terminal networks. The frequency dependence of the parameters and the loads of the transmission line system can be arbitrary. The results, obtained by the computer program (written on the base of the method) are compared with analytical results available in the literature. A numerical example is presented at the end of the paper.
