Abstract

Differing data are found in the literature regarding the place and date of birth of F. J. Müller, the discoverer of tellurium in Nagyszeben, 1782. Some sources ci te Nagyszeben. others Vienna as his birthplace. The authors-based on the original birth certificate-state that Müller was born in Poysdorf (Lower Austria) on October 4, 1742. They also found new data on his life in the Conduct List prepared by the Chamber of Mining in 1799.
