Abstract

This paper presents the application of two material models, Mooney-Rivlin, and Neo-Hooke in FEM, to calculate better results, nearer to the facts. The exact definition of the material properties is an important step in the finite element analysis. Silicone rubber belongs to non-linear incompressible elastic materials, which have large deformability. This material behaviour can be described by the application of the strain energy potential. Of course, there are more types of elastic potentials, but the Mooney-Rivlin method is widely used for rubber-like materials. This Mooney-Rivlin formula is also used by the Marc/Mentat FEM program.
