Abstract

A new type of model and test-rig for has been developed for investigation of the velocity and contact relation of spatial gear tooth (helical, bevel, worm gears) surfaces. The velocity relations and the curvature of the gear flanks - depending on meshing position - change along the contact line. The lubrication relation has been described by theories used to up to now with cylinder pairs having radii of curvature according to the radii of the teeth flanks at meshing points. For test a two-roller tribometer has been used. This rig is not able to present the relative velocity and radii of curvature changing along the contact line. wo cylinders can be substitute for a plane and a cy!inder with calculated reduced curvature of radius. If the plane (disc) and the cylinder (roller) turn, it will be possible to set variable velocity relations along the contact line. If the roller is conical then the reduced radius \vill be changed along the contact line. According to these facts a calculation model and a test rig has been developed.
