Abstract

This paper treats the determination of the strength in the flanged connections of tubes and pressure vesseIs. The connected flanges together with sealing and screws are considered as an elastic structure. It introduces the term of rigidity factor and a calculation rnethod for its determination. Knowing the rigidity factor the screw force necessary for preloading can also be calculated, which when applied an advantegous force-balance can be expected. The introduced calculation method with slight rnodification can also be used in the elastic-plastic state of the flange-structure.
