Abstract

The objective of the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), which is a voluntary scheme, ensures that identical standards and approaches are adopted in all European Union member states, is to promote continuous environmental performance improvements with industry and other sectors. It aims to achieve this by providing tolls for companies to manage their environmental performance, to introduce environmental improvements and to provide information using public environmental statements on their environmental performance to the general public.
