Abstract
In 1999, the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (TUB) started a research project to explore the properties of R and D undertaken at the BME research institutes. In this article we would like to present the most important results of the research, which was based on 42 case studies. After the general properties of TUB´s R and D, the authors present the factors that influence knowledge flow at the university research units. Then the most important management problems pertaining to innovative performance are summarised. Finally, the use of R and D results and the most important obstacles to more efficient innovations are discussed. Throughout the article, the TUB innovations are put in the focus of analysis.
