Abstract

The present article is devoted to some methodological procedures of using literary texts within the framework of the French language course with ingeneer students translator-interpreters at the Technical University of Budapest. The use of literary texts in the process of general language teaching is deeply rooted in the traditions of the didactics of French as a foreing language. According to my own pedagogical experiences, reading literary passages makes it possible for the students to explore the different aspects (stylistic, semantical, cultural, connotative etc.) of the French language in a creative way in the form of varied exercises applied during lessons. Several kinds of activities are described as possible methodological models of exploring literary passages, for example: memorization, dramatization, guided lexical exercises.
