Abstract

The study is about how to grow the efficiency of planes having axial-flow compressor and turbines or gas turbines. The efficiency of gas turbines is increased by the growth of the pressure ratio of turbines however, it results decreasing blade-height in the compressor and turbine. The decreasing efficiency of turbines spoils the effectivenes of the whole gas turbine machine. In conclusion the result of the two paradoxon effects is that the use of high pressure ratio is not advisable in any aircraft with small and middle efficiency.
