Abstract

The majority of modern vehicles are designed for load conditions in Europe, America or Japan. These vehicles often have problems when faced with the rough roads and the harsh environment of the rural areas in Africa. This paper presents a short history of vehicles in Africa and discusses ways in which cars design for the local people in the rural areas in Africa can be improved.
